Chalk It Up Sacramento

Chalk It Up Sacramento was a major success of an event! Pretty much the sidewalk of a whole city block is turned into a giant chalkboard...and it's awesome! I'm so glad we went.

 There was live music and Everett loved dancing with Mema.

The artists were legit! The artwork was phenomenal and I couldn't believe that they were just using chalk. My dad is a super talented artist and Ash and I are sponsoring him for next year ;) I can't wait to see what he does!

 There were all sorts of food trucks and we ate the yummiest food. Mom ate at Mama Kim's, Ash/Log/and I ate at Drewski's and Dad and James ate at wicked 'wich. All the food was amazing, but the winner was definitely...

Jim's pulled pork sandwich from the wicked 'wich. You have no idea what you are missing in life until you try this. Really, really good!

 When did I say it was ok for him to look like a 5-year-old? Oh wait, I didn't. So stop it, you hear?

The handsome hubs chased the kids around the playground. I'm still getting used to him doing things with us again...and I'm loving it ps!

 Me and the Aviator. I actually just thought of that nickname right now...and I kind of feel clever and love it a lot! Dear Ash, can I call your daughter the Aviator? Let me know. Love, Heath

This boy loves the swings. Especially when his dad pushes him. I'm a little more chicken when it comes to pushing him high on the swings. I'm trying to remind myself that he's not a little baby anymore, but I still think he is!

We saw this Capital Nursery chalk art right as we were leaving and knew we needed to take a picture for Noni. We love you Nones!

Water

The little guys had lots of fun in water while we were in Sacramento. We hit up water parks, swam in pools, ran in sprinklers and had 3 super cute dudes in a tub! 

 

We went to an awesome splash pad in Folsom. It was kind of windy outside, but that didn't stop these two from running like wild men! One thing about Kai that I totally adore is that he likes to be wrapped up in a towel and held like a baby after getting wet. So. darn. cute.

After the water park, we ate yummy yogurt for lunch. Funny memories I don't want to forget: Talmage begging for pineapple and not eating any of it. Kai wanting to try my mochi and then spitting it back into my cup. Everett eating monster bites of yogurt from Uncle Gogo at record speeds.

Kai and I also had a silly photo shoot and I definitely don't want to forget one minute of that fun! I don't want to brag or anything, but when you ask Kai who his favorite person is he says, "Heddy!" Yep, true story.

His answer might have been Talmage, but T hasn't learned about bribery yet ;) They are so, so cute together holding hands, talking (and of course, wrestling and arguing!)

The boys also enjoyed running around at Mema and Pepa's house in the sprinklers. Well, Everett scooted around and played with the spout while the other two ran, ran, ran! California summers--you just can't beat 'em.

Who's Upset? Not us!

It's that time of the year again--Stanford football! We are big sports fans, and have had so much fun cheering on Stanford. Our first home game (when we were home) was a big one vs. USC. Stanford won and some were calling it the upset of the year--but we were far from upset!!!

Before the game we went to the fun-zone and got our faces painted, jumped in the jumphouse and got a lot of Stanford swag (t-shirts, necklaces, noise makers, banners, flags, etc). It was super fun.

Not only was Evie sporting a new football uniform (to match his brother's) but he also got to wear cute football socks :)

 

Since we are still students, we sit in the RedZone. It's not always the most family-friendly location in the stadium, but our boys sure get lots of attention...mostly from tipsy undergraduate girls! The girls sitting behind us at this game LOVED Everett and were flirting with him and taking pictures of him the whole game. I kept hearing them say, "I'm totally putting this one on facebook, he is the cutest baby ever!" and "I'm texting this one to my friend!" It made me laugh so hard, and I have to agree with them...he is pretty cute!

I'm sure they would have thought T was cute too if he would have smiled at them. Instead, he growled and looked in the other direction. I wish I was kidding. The girls kept flirting with Evie and said, "There's always got to be a serious one in the bunch!"

T sharing his ice cream with his brother. These two made it through all four hours of the game and loved it, but boy were they filthy by the time it was done!

We were sitting four rows from the field and needless to say the view was amazing. I love close games (especially when we win!) and this game had us on our toes the whole time. The 2nd half made the whole game--it was awesome!

Even though students were told not to run onto the field the whole game, at about a minute left it became clear that everyone and their brother would be rushing the field when the game finished! You should have seen everyone running and jumping onto the field, it was awesome!

 When I saw the security guards standing back and allowing people entrance onto the field I decided that this was a memory not to be wasted. I held Evie and James picked up T and we stormed the field just like our fellow, albeit childrenless, students! The field was wild with excitement over the win and football players were everywhere hugging, high-fiving, chest-bumping and smiling ridiculously big!

After we had our fill on the field, we headed home to put our chicks to bed (it was after 9 by this point!) This was our view from the top of the stairs. Yes, we are either the coolest parents ever or we are really negligient for having our children in that awesomely hot mess!

Super-Ev!

Walking is officially now his preferred mode of transportation and I can't get over the cuteness of it. Now add a cape to the scenario...I almost can't handle it!

T the Preschooler.

It's official--Talmage is a preschooler! He is attending Rainbow School on Stanford campus twice a week and his first day all by himself was today. Did he have any reservations, nervousness or fear? NO! In fact, this morning as we were getting ready for school he said, "Don't worry Mom, I won't get wost when I go to school!" He seriously thought I was just going to let him ride his scooter to school alone. And while all the other parents were getting tear-filled goodbyes, T yelled, "Bye Mom! See ya later!" as he ran to play with toys. I have no doubt that Talmage will thrive in this new creative environment and I'm so excited for him!

 

We went back-to-school shopping and T got to pick out a new backpack. As soon as he saw this one he said, "Awesome! It's a batman backpack! I want this one!" Funny thing, he's never seen batman, or talked about batman, or read a batman book, or anything. I still have no idea where he knows this from, but we got it for him nonetheless and he LOVES it!

 

Last week they allowed the parents to join the students at school for a "phase-in" day. T made it perfectly clear that I didn't have to stay and I could leave him alone at school (his independence is astounding sometimes), but I stayed and played anyway ;) I will admit to crying at the parent's meeting (such a sap!) but I didn't shed any tears during our drop-offs. How could I? He was SO happy.

His school honestly couldn't be more awesome! They play and get messy and paint and read books and sing songs and have learning activities and T loved it! I loved sitting back and watching him learn. And I LOVE that he can make a mess, mess, mess at school and then we can practice our ABC's at home ;)

Last night we had our first back-to-school dinner for T-Man. I made his favorite pizza (and we even had a yummy nutella pizza for dessert!) While the pizza was a big hit...the crown was not. I thought he would love it, but he had it on for 3 seconds before taking it off. "I don't want to wear that crown!" he immediately let me know. Next year, I'm skipping the crown part of the evening.

Another picture from the drop-off this morning. He couldn't contain his excitement! When I picked him up at noon, his teacher told me that he did wonderfully and played so hard that she feared he was going to be dehydrated (and had him drink some water!) He told his brother stories of delicious snack time, bikes that rode like rollercoasters and measuring water that was dyed blue. He also told us how he doesn't play with girls (except Teacher Natalie)--just boys. And thus it begins!

Here's to a bright year of preschool my oldest son.
